Detail of a scale souvenir model of Roaring Meg, presented to the Right Honourable WF Massey (Prime Minister of New Zealand) at the Guildhall, 1911. Massey was born in Limavady, County Derry, in 1856, and travelled to New Zealand at the age of 14. He became Prime Minister in 1912 and led the country throughout their involvement in WWI, remaining Prime Minister until 1925. He returned to his home county on two occasions, once in 1916 and finally in 1923. It is believed this gift from the city was presented in 1916.
