Plans for a number of the city’s food-processing structures – slaughterhouses / abattoirs, livestock pens, agricultural showgrounds and public markets – have been identified in the archive, including: Rossville Street Cattle Market, the Butter Market on Foyle Street, Victoria Market on Strand Road, Waterside Market off Duke Street, Albert Market (site of Long Tower School) on Bishop Street and Sir Edward Reid’s Market (beside old Rialto site) on Linenhall Street, close to the Millennium Forum.
